Rationale
Campers are exposed to two types of Self Defence during the camp, namely Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and Krav Maga.
Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is a very innovative modern martial art and is accepted as an extremely effective form of self-defence. It teaches a smaller person how to defend against a larger adversary by using leverage and proper technique.
Krav Maga is another world renowned self defence system used by military personnel, law enforcement, and men, women and children of all ages. It is used so extensively because it is easy to learn, simple to use and highly effective.
By the end of the week we hope all campers will have a greater appreciation and interest in the art of self-defence. A practical awareness of how to defend one’s self has been shown to increase a child’s self-esteem, confidence and discipline as well as developing coordination, balance and fitness.
